My Two Weeks In September

I usually take two weeks holiday each year and travel for my birthday. This year, London also made the cut (after Paris of course).

Ever hear that “London Bridge is falling down?” Psych! London Bridge is just fine, but it may have gone full tilt a few days in September due to a visit from two wild and crazy girls from the USA.

Funny story… we were enjoying some great burgers at a nice pub near the hotel. I got the check and used the currency conversion app on my phone to discover we had spent $82 on burgers and fries. The bill was £50.60. We are now planning to fast for the rest of the trip, lol!!

Next Stop… London!

Happy Sunday! Arrived early this morning at Nord Station in Paris to catch the Eurostar to London. We met Liz and Hanna, a mother and daughter from London who were happy to give us tips on their favorite shopping and eating spots in the city. We all shared experiences and confusion with trying to decipher the Paris subway system. I was glad that their observations of the states, particularly New York, faired much better.

We safely arrived in London and look forward to Harrod’s and taking in the sites. No rest for the stealth travelers!

New Life, New Neighborhood in Paris

Strolling the Paris neighborhood of Montparnasse, I realized that my future home is here. Thanks to my friend Alice, shopping for an apartment was an experience rather than a required task for a “future dated relocation”. A Toast To Champagne From Grapes to Gratification

Today we traveled with a tour group to the Champagne area of France. We visited two champagne makers including the world famous Moet & Chandon company in Avenay. Each tour ended with a champagne tasting with the new friends we met from around the world. The extensive process of making the beverage was quite intriguing, specifically the fact that many of the processes have been utilized for centuries and some processes have only recently been modernized using machines.

My Birthday Dinner Rocked!

It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Le Grand Colbert for dinner, but WOW! The food was delicious and absolutely beautiful and the service was great although we had a very late reservation.

The Day Before Bday

Nice Digs in Paris

I have almost recovered from our premature wine tasting turn. One of the reasons is the really nice hotel our travel agent found for the Paris leg of our trip. Shout out to Jessica at McGehee Cruise & Vacation. Loving our home away from home.

…And They’re Off!

My friend Alice and I took off for my birthday trip to Europe. Thanks to some very inconsiderate terrorists, I prefer to spend my day away from the solemn refections.

Paris is the first stop! Great flight on Air France including tips on Paris Fashion Week from a very handsome flight attendant. Lovely view of super moon from the plane! Stay tuned…
