#mylens Indian Market Karma

Standard

Indian Market 2017 was amazing. I somehow found myself in the best position to observe and enjoy the diverse cultures within the Native American population. A highlight was jewelry shopping with the legendary actress, Ally McGraw from movies such as “Love Story” and “The Getaway” with Steve McQueen. The latter was filmed at the prison in my hometown, Huntsville, Texas.

Filming for “The Brave” Season 1

Standard

One of the coolest parts of my New Mexico experience is watching the Hollywood invasion. Recently, our Albuquerque office was surrounded by the crew filming the new series, “The Brave”, starring Anne Heche and Mike Vogel, produced by Universal Television and Keshet Studios.

I happened to have a great vantage point from my local office window to capture the crew in action.

The first photo is a volcano that erupted repeatedly creating Mt. Taylor which is located off Interstate 40 near Grants, New Mexico. Below the mountain are miles of lava beds that show the random flow and distance the lava traveled. Mt. Taylor is a Stratovolcano and was active between 3 and 1.5 million years ago.

A Day Trip to Abiquiu, New Mexico

Standard

Since my college days, I have had a fascination with the artist, Georgia O’Keeffe. Already an accomplished artist, O’Keeffe moved from New York to New Mexico after visiting and becoming enamored by the place during the 1940s. I get it, the landscapes are breathtaking and the colors of the mountains change constantly depending on the season or time of day. Here are just a few shots from my day trip.

Work Trip to New Mexico… And That’s a Wrap

Standard

I know that I am fortunate to call one of my work offices New Mexico. We accomplished so much this week getting ready for open enrollment 2016 for the health plans. I enjoy working with my team, and not a bad backdrop for work either.

Visiting Española, New Mexico

Standard

The weather is perfect and unseasonably warm for northern New Mexico in late January. While in Española, a friend took me to visit the little church called Santaurio de Chimayo. It’s a little off the beaten path and a special peace resides there.

The Road to Los Alamos, New Mexico

Standard

Here’s a lovely route and a trip worth taking. These are scenes from my drive from Santa Fe to Los Alamos via HWY 502 West. There were actually a couple of well positioned photo op areas. Enjoy!
